    Video Screen Capture

    I am somewhat familiar with PHP image manipulation functions but I was wondeirng if it is posible with PHP to take a frame capture from a video and generate a thumbnail of it. I know this is posible in ASP, but I am using PHP for my site. Assuming it isnt posible with PHP, can I somehow implement this feature using another language (ie, ASP) on a PHP site...? Thanks for any responses.

    I research a little further and I found code snippet suggested to a problem simular to mine regarded integrating two languages:

    <?
    $file = file_get_contents ("http://yourserver.com/index.asp");
    preg_match ("/<!--{SNIP HERE}-->(.*?)<!--{STOP SNIPPING}-->/s", $file,
    $matches);
    echo ($matches[1]);
    ?>

    ^^ Note: Untested code ^^

    It's a bit of a kludge and results in two pages running through your IIS but
    it may be a workaround for your duality issue for the moment.

    *simular not exact.

    Yup, thanks for the link, I found that too. However, front what I understand it is very difficult to properly install that plug in (various forum threads over the internet) and get it to work properly.... I might just stick with manual thumbnails.

    Actually, ffmpeg is usually already installed on most Linux machines. If not, I'm sure you can get the server admin to install it for you.

    Depending on the video format you are using, this is the easiest way to capture screen shots of video.
