Hi Nash Tax -- I think those subjects are not right on this forum. There are plenty places where you find the people to discuss those with. Discussions as such lead to a lot of head banging and downright fights because they affect the core of people's beliefs and values so much. Sometimes in the threads on SP I try to dance away from those areas because of the danger to offend or hurt.

I love politics and philosophy as well, but I realize also that once you start going there, the nice helpful harmony that exists here because of the lack of knowledge about a persons personal views is going to vanish in many cases. Often I can tell where people sit politically or philosophically because their answers to some points go a certain way, but it is all kept more hazy this way and I think it is good so.

Also, don't forget that the participants here are from all over the world, a lot of the more newsy stories would bore a lot of citizens of the unaffected countries. I think SP has the right idea to keep those issues away from this forum -- Datura

Except what is generally talked about in the real world and is banned in the forum rules.
