    And back to the Poll...

I'd like to see more Hard Hitting Threads because it'd be nice to have some sensible discussions about things that aren't to do with computing but I can see it falling apart; probably due to intolerance - the bane of all debate.

A Woman's SP calendar would be great but do we have 12 women on SP? Off the top of my head I can think of Hawk, Jelena, Ses, Sarah, Shyflower and that's it (like I said - top of my head) and they may not want to be in the calendar. I do however have at least three months worth of photos of Hawk at my disposal

If we have a women's calendar then equality says one for the men! I propose that all male candidates for the photo shoot dress up in black, stand in front of a black background and take the pictures at midnight!

I voted for Other as well. I'd like to see fewer threads based on the "The one above you..." or "What are you listening to/doing/eating now" genres. GC for me is a place to go when I've finished working or doing the 100 or so other things that I need to do to keep the family alive and ready for tomorrow. It should be fun, interesting, stimulating or at least a place to say something. A lot of the threads don't do this for me.

Imao butts - I don't even know what this means and it's the top vote so maybe I should just give up!

I like Mike Empuria's answer about the "other". I'd spend more time in GC if there was more to read than what people are listening to and what their desk top looks like.

However, I do understand that it's up to the thread starters to start interesting topics.

General chat could be a great place to take a break and get away from tech for awhile. I just wish that people would talk more about their interests (what do you talk about to flesh & blood people about during breaks at a brick & mortar) and less about Internet trivia.

My coworkers and I quote movies and Simpsons episodes between insulting each other. So it's a lot like the rest of the internet

I voted for the Women of SP calendar 2007, and More hard-hitting threads. A new rap war would also be fun.

Being serious, just for a moment (yes I like the Women of SP Calendar idea too), I am more than a little concerned about the number of people who want some "serious" discussion or topics not often covered in GC.

Where are your bl***y thread starters, eh?

If you've got some good stuff to discuss, put it up and see what happens. And yes, some of the more humorous types around here will have some fun with them and may even add a smilie or two, but don't let that stop you!

If you've got something non-work related to say, say it! I'll read it and join in too.

    • Less in-depth social analysis
    • Less critical thought
    • Less irony (Actually none would be just blissful)
    • Definitely more

I would like to volunteer myself and a nice Casio Exslim for the job getting the images together for the calendar. I'm thinking SP HQ may have to fork out for myself and the 12 ladies to spend a couple of weeks on a location with the right light...say the Maldives, and some other modest expenses (alcohol, sun-tan lotion, etc).

I understand that SP's budget does have a limit, and as such I could cope if only one luxury suite was available for all 13 of us.

    I humbly await your response.
