a1nerd - your being too picky. your standards are too high. aim lower. if your friends dont like the girl, who cares, shes right for you and thats all that matters. someone who seems terrible to one person, might be an angel in someone elses eyes. please yourself not anyone else. theres someone out there for everyone.

There's also the flipside: good friends/family look out for your best interests and know you better than anyone else, so their advice can be very helpful if you apply it.

This assumes, of course, that you don't have crappy friends.

I know a guy in his 30s who has never had a girlfriend. He's not bad looking, and he's not gay. He is just very shy around people. However, he has taken matters into his own hands (NO PUN INTENDED) and hired a trainer. He's gotten into great shape and is starting to date!
