    Simple CSS not woking in Netscape //

    Geez, I must have spent a day trying to figure this out. It's probaly very simple but my brain hurts so:
    ----------------

    BACKGROUND:
    1. I have a table within another.

    2. In the nested table, the span tags are referencing
    external styles with class=""

    PROBLEM:
    In Netscape, none of the CSS is working, not even simple font-family, color, and font-size; which is all I have.

    IE works fine(of course). Below is the code and stylesheet. Hope you can help, I've tried everything. Thanks!
    ------------------------------

    <table>
    <tr>
    <td bgcolor="#666666">&nbsp;</td>
    <td width="80%">

    <table bgcolor="#000000">
    <tr>
    <td width="385" height="130">

    <span class="textY">Quick Intro //</span><br />
    <span class="textW">
    text not showing here text not showing here
    text not showing here text not showing here
    <p>
    text not showing here text not showing here
    text not showing here text not showing here
    </p>
    etc...

    </td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td height="45">&nbsp;</td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td align="right"><img src="images/logo.jpg" /><td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td height="45">&nbsp;</td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td>

    <span style="font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12; color: #E4BE27; font-weight: bolder">
    <p>
    text not showing here text not showing here
    text not showing here text not showing here
    </p>
    etc...
    <p>
    <a href="main.html">ENTER SITE NOW!!</a>
    </p>
    </span>

    </td>
    </tr>
    </table>

    </td>
    <td bgcolor="#999999">&nbsp;</td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td bgcolor="#666666">&nbsp;</td>
    <td align="center">

    <span style="color: #CCCCCC; font-size: 10; font-family: 'Arial'">
    text not showing here text not showing here
    text not showing here text not showing here
    </span>

    </td>
    <td bgcolor="#999999">&nbsp;</td>
    </tr>
    </table>

    STYLES:

    .textB {font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12; color: #000000}
    .textW {font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 11; color: #FFFFFF}
    .textY {font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12; color: #E4BE27}
    a {text-decoration: none; color: #E4BE27}
    a:hover {text-decoration: underline; color: #336699}

    Question

    So no styles on the entire page are working, or just styles applied from within the nested table?

    What verison of Netscape are you talking about? If it's 4.7 just give up. I have gotten very little CSS to work in that browser.

    Good Luck

    I agree to a certain extent about the Nav4 styles issue. I still test all my sites with it, of course, but I worry less about what it looks like as long as the content is accessible. You might enjoy reading this.

    Colon:
    Thanks for the link, very interesting and I"m considering using it
    To answer your question: The styles are not working anywhere! Note: All of them are in the nested table though.

    Chuckie:
    It's Netscape 4.7 I just thought that since the CSS was backward compatible with both browsers that it would work; at least that's what I read.

    I did notice that if I declare the styles in a "span" tag in the "body" not any tables and not using "class" that it worked. That deleats my whole purpose of using tables though.

    You need to specify units for your font sizes. You can't just say font-size: 12. You need to specify 12px, or 12pt, or whatever. Oh, also, I don't think NS 4.x supports the "bolder" font weight.

    Could the "text not showing" (meaning nothing appearing) be caused by the // part? Or are you saying just the class is not being applied to that text parts?

    And for your font specifications, try this route...
    font : 12px Arial, Verdana, sans-serif;

    Try this and see how it goes for the textW and textY parts...

    table,tr,td .textW {font : 11px Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; color: #FFFFFF}
    table,tr,td .textY {font : 12px Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; color: #E4BE27}

    IT WORKED! Geez, I'm so embarrased; just a simple declaration of 'px' or 'pt' OneChance/htmlite, you nailed it on the head. Thanks!

    By the way, "font-weight: bolder" is being picked up by Netscape 4.7.

    Thanks again to everyone!
