    Only one referer?

I am devloping a new site where you have to pay an amount via paypal and I assume using IPN on Paypal redirect them back to the site they paid for. The thing is I don't want it a normal url you can just copy and give to your friend.. I want the url to only work on your computer if you went through the Paypal checkout. I was thinking maybe checking if the referer was paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr ?? Or maybe I should use .htaccess.. I don't really know where to start

    use php sessions.

before they leave to paypals site, create session data, like for example, thier order_id

then when they return, you now know who they are because you have a session running for them with the proper info, and you can continue. if any relevant data is missing from the session, then you just die() or redirect etc...
