    What is PHTML?

I've seen this extension on a number of websites but I can't seem to find an explanation for what it's for. I know it must have something to do with PHP because it's mentioned a few times in this forum. Thanks in advance

Its just another php extension, it was more widely used in the days of php/fi, and at the start of php3. It is slowly disappearing.
Please don't PM me with questions.

Yeah its just another PHP extension ...
I started using it when I was using PHP ver 3, at that time usually PHP had extension .php3, so I figure the next version could have .php4 ... it could provide me a hassle renaming all the files in all the projects ... imagine that ...

So it provided a free form, upgradable, to associate the file with PHP

But Now I use it regular, it provides an easy way to distinguish file

for e.g I usually name files that may output heavy html code as .phtml like a site template
but I use .php for hard core php code like a mail library or an include file or object class ...
