    Help with a Forums Site

    Hello,

I need help with promoting one of my forums sites. We are currently working on our main site, but have launched the forums. I really need to get more traffic to my boards right now, so that when we launch our site, it will be a big hit. The site is non-profit and is basically just for fun.

The site is www.speedlimitz.com and its all about Running, Track, Fitness, Weightlifting, and much more. Anyone have any experience in promoting one of these types of sites?

If you could post here it would be great!

    Hi Jim,

I'm in the same boat you are. My companies main site has enough visitors, but now I want people to post on the discussion board. I know you can submit your discussions to the Search Engines, but what's the point when you have no discussions???

So if anybody has any ideas, please share them. Or I'll get the sack

This is the same jimb that signed up for my KarateForums.com and spammed speedlimitz.com right?

I don't think that that is a very good way to promote yoursite, it is kind of not respectable. We do not have a Spam/Advertising forum, and for a good reason because we have low tolerance for spam. When you signed up, you had to read and agree to our Posting Guidelines and you didn't do it.

I thought I'd say it here because I am guessing that you may never have visited KarateForums.com again.

    Thanks.

    OMG!

im so sorry about that Ifroggy....I have people on our staff right now (all non-paid) but I asked them to go out to forum sites and post in the advertising sections. They used my name: jimb, because I said they could. I went to the site, and found that they posted in General Section....please delete it if you do not want it.

It was my mistake....sorry, please accept my apologies.

Ok guys, how about this: no registration necessary to post? Just for the first two months in order to get your forums rolling? Just make it as easy as possible for people to participate.

    Jimb,

Well, I create a quality site and asked some people I knew to visit. And then I posted in some clubs asking for people. The biggest thing was my partnership with KickBoxing.com - a major Martial Arts site. That has helped a lot. But really, word of mouth is good. One of our members had like 6 friends sign up.

    Yeah,

Im trying to get a partnership with a big Track site as we speak. I emailed about 20 different sites, asking them about partnership deals, and what we could workout between each other. Hopefully this will work out.

Also, Ive decided to go ahead and start up a few advertising campains, that require a minimal amount of money. These should start to bring in more people too.

Does anyone else know of ways to get some more traffic?

This is a very hard sell... it's extremely focused.. I would suggest developing partnerships with other sites of the same content type... offer them a share in the board or something and make sort of a partnership with maybe 5 sites or so and you could all use the same forums... that would help to grow the forums substantially... You'd be amazed at how fast they'd grow once you do something like that...
