    Localhost - Upgrade to PHP5

    Hi,

I currently have PHP 4.3 running with Apache 2 under windows Xp on my localhost.

I am now wanting to upgrade it to PHP5. I have looked in the documentation but can only find fresh install instructions, not upgrades.

Could anybody please point me in the right direction ?

You can't actually upgrade, so you'll need to make a new installation.

    1 - download PHP5 and unzip it to a new folder (e.g. c:\php5)
2 - open httpd.conf, and comment out the lines for PHP4 (put # in front of them)
    3 - add the PHP5 lines to the httpd.conf

    My httpd.conf has the following:

    Code:
    # PHP 4
    #LoadModule php4_module "C:/php442/php4apache2.dll"
    #PHPIniDir "C:/php442"

    # PHP 5
    LoadModule php5_module "c:/php512/php5apache2.dll"
    PHPIniDir "C:/php512"

    # PHP (all)
    AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
This way I can switch between PHP version pretty easily, good for testing stuff!

Let me know if you need any more pointers!
