    Help! Why can't I get these CGI scripts to work?

    I'm trying to use a simple CGI script called Sniffer, which simply tells you basic things about the server it is installed on (location of Perl, Sendmail, etc.). But, when I put it in my CGI-BIN, I get this error message:
    Forbidden
    You don't have permission to access /cgi-bin/sniffer.cgi on this server.

    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Apache/1.3.20 Server at www.gtplanet.net Port 80
    Now, when I got my hosting account, there was also an SCGI-BIN directory pre-installed on the server. So, I moved the script there and tried running it again. This time, I got a different error:
    Code:
    scgiwrap: no execute permission on cgi script/binary--------------------------------------------------------------------------------DOCUMENT_ROOT=/home/gtplanet/public_html
    HTTP_ACCEPT=image/gif, image/x-xbitmap, image/jpeg, image/pjpeg, application/vnd.ms-excel, application/msword, */*

    HTTP_HOST=www.gtplanet.net

    SCRIPT_NAME=/scgi-bin
    PATH_INFO=/sniffer.cgi
    PATH_TRANSLATED=/home/gtplanet/public_html/sniffer.cgi
    What should I do? I have been able to re-create this many times, and I am positive I have uploaded the script in ASCII mode.

    are you positive that you have CHMOD'd this file to 755 to give executable rights?

    Well, I tried that, and now I'm getting a different error when I run the script out of the CGI-BIN directory (the error was the same when trying to run it in the SCGI-BIN). Here's the new message:

    Internal Server Error
    The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
    Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@gtplanet.net and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

    More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    right, I understand that, but I'm asking if you have it in lower case on the page where you are linking to the script...do you?

    Well, I don't have any other page linked to it. I'm just typing it into my browser.
