    border-style

    Hi,

I was just wondering if it's possible to define a border as an image? For example, if I wanted a table that had a bunch of hearts as borders, could I just make a graphic of a heart and use CSS to make that the border of the table?

Sorry for the bad explanation--I'm having trouble describing what I want!

Hmmm, had a quick hunt but cannot find any support for defining the border style... but can you create a background of a heart which is repeated throughout the table cell and then use a background color in a smaller cell to make it look like a heart border?

    Sorry not totally helpful

    Good luck though

    That's a good answer Sarah...

That would be the way I would figure it out too. A better modification of your idea though would be to use CSS to define the background's x and y tiling. Since you only really want the image to be seen around the edges, you could tell it to only tile in certain directions instead of covering the available area.

Read this page on the W3C site for more information about background images:

Thanks guys! Somehow I figured that would be the answer, but I was crossing my fingers for the best.

Anyway, I'm going to trundle off to read the w3c page.

no problem, enjoy the w3c - it raised a few thoughts in my head!

Don't forget to post the final product so we can see how you accomplished what you wanted.
