    Exit Popunders

Has anyone tried the use of exit popunders for the promotion of link exchanges and the like? I've had some great click thru ratios on the banner exchanges as of late (8% sometimes) and I would like to keep hitting that same converstion rate, but moving up to more impressions, and the only way that I can think of is by using exit popunders.. Has anyone noticed any negative connotations or impact on the traffic due to this method of marketing? Has this caused any other known problems. I've done it before, and took it down, debating the plausability of it and never related it to any traffic jumps or drops... so... I'm wondering if anyone else has measured it to any extent.

I was wondering - are popunders 'auto-minimise' or just go under the current page?

You can get them to do both. At least those damn porn sites seem to do that. Try visiting a celebrity site once. I was visiting them during a partnership campaign, and I went to one, the mother popped up a thousand porn sites and the majority of them minimized themselves... then again the porn sites all seem to have the best programming and the best technologies anyway... do you ever see a poorly designed porn site? Exactly... strange isn't it?

That's because with the revenue they produce they can afford to get professionals to design their sites.

So why are porn sites so hated in the webmaster community? Is it jealousy or what? I think I'm going to have to make a change in occupations on the net or something...

I don't think they're particularly hated - in fact I think that many webmasters would have nothing against people who own adult sites, even if they would never do so themself. Of course, I'm only guessing. But yes, there may be some jealousy there too...

Adult sites are just amazing... I can't believe that people pay for those things though. There are so many free adult sites out there, I'm sure... Why don't they just look around a little harder rather than doing that? Then again, I'm not sure about the quality of either though... so I guess I'm at no right to say anything...

People don't have patience. Why search the Internet for more porn when you can download hundreds of women at such and such site?

    Free isn't necessarily good, also.
