    Printing With CSS

    I encourntered a recent article in A List Apart and printed it out. Despite the borders on the page...the printed page came out like it had been printed from a print only page.

    The sidebar of that article page said that this was possible through CSS. Can anybody explain how this is done?

    Not sure how it's done, but it is done with CSS. If you take a look at the code of that page, you will see that there are not tables. It is structured with CSS.

    Read this page on the W3C site. What A List Apart is using is called the @Media rule. It tells the browser to use one set of styles and the printer to use another set:
