Font size problems in NS

When I use this from my CSS stylesheet file:

.mainText {  
        font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: smaller
}

I get really small text in NS 4.77. It looks just fine in IE 5.0, NS 6.1 and MZ 0.92.

How could I define the font size so that it looks just like 'smaller' in all browsers?

Try this...

.mainText {font: smaller "Arial", "Helvetica", "sans-serif"}

Sometimes with Netscape it is a matter of what order you place the properties in.
