PopUps: are extremely annoying, as i beleive many people here would agree. i rarely return to a site with pop-ups unless that site has some sort of incredible content that i can't get anywhere else.

Donations: nope, i wouldn't want to have to go through the hassle of giving out cc info just for a few webpages

Banners: fine with me. they pay the webmaster, and i dont have to do anything. everyone's happy.

    ...my 3 cents

You know, the way your question is worded the obvious answer is 'nothing'. I don't want to see popups, banners, or any sort of advertisement at all. I want everything to be free, free, free.

However I think that you really want a solution that is going to make you money, rather than a solution that your viewers will want most.

Whether or not banners alone can make you a decent amount of money depends on your situation (the topic of your website, your amount of traffic, and your skill).

The downside of popups is that they are very annoying, and reduce your repeat visitors and browse depth. Even though the popup may load only once per session, the average visitor may not know this, and may leave immediately, not wanting to see a popup on every page.

However in many situations, popups are very effective. They would be a last resort, though.
