tables and css2

I've been designing webpages by hand for years. I was designing pages before it was cool lol.

Anyways, I've been so used to using tables for layout, that it is making me unconfortable trying to learn how to work with css2 for layout.

Are their any good tutorials that show a page that used tables, and was converted to css.

Is it a good idea to try to convert my pages? Can I easily convert it? Is there a speed gain by using css and not tables?

It's very good exercise because you get to know CSS that way. I think that it's worth trying at least. That's just what I doing at the moment. I'm building my personal site and I'm tempted to take the easy way (by using tables). But because I want to learn CSS I'm taking the hard way instead. IMHO, it's trickier (like understading box-model) than the traditional way. So it's gonna take a little time to learn that stuff.

Anyway, those links Creole mentioned are good starters.

From one hand-coder to another, you will love css. It makes life so much better.

The link to glish.com above is great. I've got that guy bookmarked even though I already know css.

You have to be careful though. There are still a lot of people using browsers that have limited support. If you are doing ANY kind of business site you are going to have to jump through hoops to get the right formula. Netscape 4x will turn your best work into garbage.

The best recommendation would be to start adding css to what you already have and grow from there.
