Popup text box when mouseover a link?

    Hi there,

Does anyone know how to create those customized little text popups that appear when you mouseover a link? Sometimes the popup is in a box with colors, etc..

I want to put some "instructions" when people place their mouse over certain links, and I remember seeing this kind of thing but I can't find it anywhere.

    Thanks!

Is this the sort of thing you are looking for?

    Tool Tip Generator

The only downside is that this DHTML code only works in IE. You would probably need to have a javascript browser pop-up to work on all (or most) browsers.

That's exactly what I was looking for. It only works with IE? Does anyone know how to get this working with NS? Is there an alternative besides javascript popups?

The whole reason I want to do this "tooltip" thing in the first place is to inform my visitor (when they rollover the link) that the link will popup in a new window.

    Thanks!

Here is another one that uses a .js file that may work on all browsers.
Let me know how you go with it.

I also saw that one via the link on the original site you posted. This one actually works perfectly with NS 4/6!

You can even type basic HTML in the tooltip area. Nifty stuff, and it will do exactly what I need.

    Thanks Tom!

    You can use
    <a href="some_url" title="Tooltip here">Link w/tooltip</a>

    IIRC it's in standard too.
Works fine with Opera 5.12 and IE4, but not in NN4.78

But if hstraf only wants to inform the visitor that there will be a popup window, there is no need for fanciful stuff, right?
