    popup problems

    hello

    using this popup script below (fairly standard and normal)...

    //THIS IS THE SCRIPT FOR ANY POPUPS
    function popup(page, name, xsize, ysize) {

    var yes = 1;
    var no = 0;
    var menubar = no; // The File, Edit, View Menus
    var scrollbars = yes; // Horizontal and vertical scrollbars
    var locationbar = no; // The location box with the site URL
    var directories = no; // the "What's New", "What Cool" links
    var resizable = no; // Can the window be resized?
    var statusbar = no; // Status bar (with "Document: Done")
    var toolbar = no; // Back, Forward, Home, Stop toolbar

    var myleftpos = (window.screen.width/2) - (xsize + 30);
    var mytoppos = (window.screen.height/2) - (ysize + 40);

    windowprops = "width=" + xsize + ",height=" + ysize + ",top=" + mytoppos + ",left=" + myleftpos + "";

    windowprops += (menubar ? ",menubars" : "") +
    (scrollbars ? ",scrollbars" : "") +
    (locationbar ? ",location" : "") +
    (directories ? ",directories" : "") +
    (resizable ? ",resizable" : "") +
    (statusbar ? ",status" : "") +
    (toolbar ? ",toolbar" : "");

    window.open(page, name, windowprops);
    }

    and what i am passing it is

    "javascriptopup('http://www.bob.com/', 'conception', '300', '300')"

    so basically the url is on another server, the result explorer crashes! anyone know why??, problems with accessing urls on other servers??

    it works when i pass a url on the same server!

    whoa! calm down

    what ver browser/os are you using?

    have you tried just bypassing the function and open up that url with the window.open(); function?

    have you tried to open other remote urls with that function?

    eh! i'm calm! no really!!

    mac g3 OS8.6 with explorer 5.1
    he (friend) g4 OS9 with explorer 5.1

    as i said anything i trigger on the same server works but as soon as i pass it a full address with http - crashes

    thing is this is like a script i have stuck in a linked .js file which is used all over my site for different stuff, and this is the first time i used it to launch an external site and noticed it had a problem, so for me its a bit of a bizare one! esp when this happened on two seperate computers.

    yes, this is a bizarre problem! i don't really know what could be the problem. if it worked in the past but no longer works, maybe it has something to do with a new piece of software you installed???

    i dunno...

    as i said its the first time i've used it with a full address like "http://www.bob.com/index.html" before it was always with "../holder.html" or "new.html".

    anyway have'nt tried to debug it as of yet cos i've been doing other stuff, so i need to cut the script down to as minimal as possible to see if something is messing up.

    thanks for your help, anyway.
