Pop up, but not a new window?

Ive seen some websites in the past that created a pop up window but it never showed up in the taskbar, yet it was a window separated from the one you where on. But when you closed the window the pop up also closed.

Does anyone know how this worked or have an example? I wanted to do the same for a chat script im working on but I canít remember what website I thought I saw this on.

    Thanks for your help.

You can use DIVs and set the layer to be on top of the main page. Looks just like a window & is unblockable (at the moment )

    Try this http://www.dhtmlshock.com/layer-effe...ow/default.asp

In IE you can create a "modeless dialog" using window.showModelessDialog() which has the properties you are after - this won't work in anything but IE.

In any browser apart from IE popups can be set to open in a new tab instead of a new copy of the browser and therefore don't show in the task bar.
