To nuke or not to nuke...

I currently need a way to post news and articles/reviews/previews/etc online without having to modify any file. PHP-Nuke looks like itll do what i need, and it'll probably be eaiser to edit a theme untill i get it to look like what i want than to start from scratch. But then i wouldnt learn as much as i would by starting from scratch.

So.. how easy/hard would it be to create a database drivin website where i could post news and articles by filling out a form and submitting it? I think i know how to do the news, but im totally lost on the articles thing.

What are multi purpose pages?? I just simply cant understand what they are. And what are some good sites with php tutorials?

    I can recommend Kevin's PHP/MySQL book.
    http://sitepoint.com/books/?bookid=AboutBook

I'v had the book and his tutorials for about 1 month now and it's great. I'v re-designed 3 of my sites and am working on a news/article/review script.

I tryed to learn php with SAMS (bla) teach yourself php in 24 hours. Lots of good that did. NOT! I had that book for 9 months and still got lost in php, with kevin's book it's step by step, none of this throw you in the DEEP end crap.

But on a note of PHPNuke, I have been told by a few people there is a few backdoors which hackers can now get into and close the site down.

hehe. I feel like im a in sitepoint's sales department

That's a good book, I started with it myself.
I'd also like to try Kevin's, but for now this one works well.
