Google Talk Hyperlink (similar to aim:)?

Is there a way to hyperlink to a Jabber IM (such as Google Talk) the way AIM uses the aim: links? This would be really handy for my contacts page.

    Thanks,
    Erik

I don't think this is possible. Jabber is not controlled by one organization like AIM and Y!M are.

I figured there'd be some kind of convention for it though. Would be useful for contact pages.... Seemed wierd to provide a link for AIM and email, but no link for Gtalk.

Convention? Convention doesn't have anything to do with it.

AOL thought it would be a nice feature so the implemented it. Yahoo thought it was a good idea so they made their own version.

Jabber is not centralized. There are many independent servers that use it. It's merely a protocol. AIM and Y!M are more than protocols. They are programs and networks too.

Why don't you suggest this feature to Google?
