You need lots of traffic to get lots of sales.

With my wilderness site I sell about 7 books a day on amazon.com

It gets about 4500 impressions a day right now.

Try to find an affiliate, banner or sponsor with the same basic content of your site.
Eg your sites about books then advertise amazon.com
    That should help!

I think rather than asking us for information about who our affiliates are and whatnot, you should try getting some that fit the topic of your site. Because people here have sites of all different topics, so it would make no sense asking for what books are good on a sports site for your music site.

You just have to pick and choose merchants, using the services at places like CJ and Amazon. Your goal should be to try to make ads visible, but not overly intrusive. And yes, they should be extremely targeted!

    Thanks aspen

Thanks aspen, that gives me an indication of the kind of traffic I'll have to generate to get sales. I can't believe your wilderness site generates that many hits! It seems like such a specialized topic.

I just bought a domain name for my new Led Zeppelin site theledzep.com

I still have to transfer all my files. Hopefully it will have a broader appeal. My other site is a guitar tab site, a very specialized interest.

I'm number 2 on Google, and it's still not generating much traffic.

If anyone can give me figures on their site like aspen did I'd greatly appeciate it!

It takes time and patience. It won't happen overnight and it won't happen by magic. You'll need to look at what your visitors want and then try to pick things that appeal to them.

And if that doesn't work, try the opposite to what you think they want. You might just be surprised

I've found that polling my visitors to find out what they are interested in has been a huge help. You'd be surpised sometimes at the outcome. Even asking for suggestions and comments has made me change many things.

Be patient, keep trying (even if it sometimes means heading in a totally different direction) and you'll make it.

    Which Poll program??

Just out of interest, what poll script do you use LunaC? I've found all that stuff confusing. I'm a designer not a programmer!

Use affilaites that add value to your site, not just any affiliate with a high pay out. If no one buys what good is a high pay out?

I have a well known affiliate on my E-commerce site that very few other sites have. In fact, my site comes up higher on the search engines than the parent company when searching for the affiliate!!

I'm number 2 on Google, and it's still not generating much traffic.
it depents on your competitors, your catalog(Google) has just a few sites, and all of them are low traffic sites.

2 years ago, I had a small email site which had just 100 users, but it was listed in the top 10 of 80 sites.

Now, my new site has 5000 page views per day, but it is just listed in the middle of google. It is absolutly depents on what catalog you choose in Google.

If you want money, you need more traffic and suitable products.

I have earned some money, but I am shy to say the amount, because I just registered 2 of my 900 affiliate links currently. I have no time to register all links in my directory. I just want vistors in the first 3 years, after that, I will register for the top 100 links, that is all, I do not register for other low traffic affiliate links.
