    Interaction with clientside applications

    Hi there,

Is it possible for a html page to interact with Windows?

For instance, could I have a link on a webpage to create a word document on the visitor's computer (with his permission) or to make an entry in a client side Access database?

    Example:
Website to have general information (say on cities) to be stored on the webserver. User can make notes on the city but these are stored on his hard disk but can be called up with a link on a user customised webpage.

    Quote from php.net/COM:
COM functions are only available on the Windows version of PHP.
So i guess this won't work if the server is running Linux.
