Actually, I think that in this case the form is much more important than the problem. In the case of ORM, the problem is all about form - You already have access to the data-layer, but what the ORM provides is a different interface to the same thing.

More generaly speaking, I'll say that as a programmer, the api of a library is often equaly or more important as it's inner workings, since the api implies how I would have to work with it.
