    How big is screensavers?

Screensavers are one of the most popular keywords on the internet. But how big is the screensaver industry? Most people want pay for a screensaver (I think). Does anyone have a clue on how much money people spend on screensavers?

I'm not aware of anyone ever paying for a screen saver.

    How are your own results?

Well, I can't say how big the industry is, but I can say SOME people like to pay for screen savers, if they really like them, but not EVERYONE wants to pay for them, me included.

I paid for one once in the very early 90's. Ever since I've been connected to the web however, I haven't bought one. I don't think too many people do. The one possible exception that I've seen is tourist stops. All the ski resorts in the northern Rockies have their own screen savers that they sell for atrocious amounts of money, and we all know how tourists like to spend...

I'm thinking of giving away a screensaver to customers on my site. Do you think it'll catch on??

Giving them away is a good way to help customers remember your business name.

I personally would never pay for a screensaver..mostly because there are so many free ones out there..and secondly because the screensaver only comes on when I'm away from the computer..so I don't really watch it and say "wow, I'm sure glad I paid $30 for this!"

On the other hand, John, you should consider making flash-enabled screensavers that let the user do stuff while they're running..like shoot at stuff or blow stuff up. I might pay for one like that

i remember seeing (and playing with) a desktop utility that allowed you to select a weapon of destruction and go postal on your desktop icons and windows. it wasn't really a screensaver, but it was pretty fun...
