    session.save_path question

    I was making a script to count the number of sessions open to get the total number of the visitors on the site. But the location listed in the php.ini is just /tmp so it lists the sessions of all sites on the server, shared hosting. Is it possible to change it to store the data in a root folder of my site?

    Update

    Well, I got the save path working and now it correctly counts only my sites sessions. However, it doesn't seem to be deleting them, doesn't the php garbage collecting take care of this? I have it set for 5min but it doesn't seem to be deleting them.

    Code:
    session.gc_probability    = 1       ; percentual probability that the
                                        ; 'garbage collection' process is started
                                        ; on every session initialization
    session.gc_maxlifetime = 300 ; after this number of seconds, stored
                                        ; data will be seen as 'garbage' and
                                        ; cleaned up by the gc process
