    Question Need flash to work in FireFox but want to be compliant.

    So I can't use the <embed> tag to get my flash to work in FireFox to stay compliant to HTML 4.01 Transitional. So how do I get flash to work in FireFox and stay compliant?

    Great paper, just wish there was an easier way to have IE and FireFox work together. I checked and with the new settings even IE7 doesn't stream the video.

    Don't code for IE7!!!!!!!!!

    It's just a beta and far from complete. Your'e wasting your time worrying about something that will change immensely by the time it is released.

    I'm not coding for it, I'm just testing to see if that is one of the issues that they have fixed yet.

    I'm not sure when they will release another preview of IE7. Hopefully within the next few months so we can verify they are making progress.

    A Possible Solution

    After consulting many tutorials/suggestions/solutions this was the solution I arrived upon (which while I am sure improvable has served me well - it will not validate - it is a compromise for IE).

    Code:
    <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" id="flash" width="900" height="600" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0"><param name="movie" value="some.swf" />
    <param name="quality" value="high" />
    <param name="play" value="true" />
    <param name="loop" value="false" />
    <param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
    <param name="bgcolor" value="#0d181c" />
    <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
    <embed src="some.swf" width="900" height="600" bgcolor="#0D181C" allowscriptaccess="sameDomain" wmode="transparent" quality="high" loop="false" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspace="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" /></object>
    Using Flash (while still targeting IE) and getting your page to validate, IMHO, is a losing battle at this point - hopefully this will change.
