    Photoshop Books?

What is the best book I can get on learning photoshop for graphic design?

I am using Photoshop CS3 but I dont' have much knowledge of it. I want to design websites, and logos.

Any suggestions of a good way to get started? Which books would you recommend?

    Thank you !

    Hi Mantra,

I would say Google is the best place to get all these informations. There are a lot of online guides that teaches photoshop, as well as many other graphic designing softwares.

I learn my photoshop via this channel as well. Everytime i wanted to do a project and face a problem, either i ask in forum or I just went to Google the exact task, eg: create transparent background with photoshop, right away, there are lots and lots of resources that guide you step by step on your task.

I find this even more effective than reading the book, because I can have my hands on and try and that makes me remember even better.

But, this is just my personal opinion...basically i am a very forgetful person,I might just forget everything I learn from the book, if I just study and learn from beginning till the end.

Sitepoint's Photoshop Anthology is a good one to start with. You can download free sample chapters.

Where did you get that link from the email when you signed up for the sample? I tried it a few weeks back and it worked for me.

As for learning PS I am just finishing up a couple CSS books now and plan on moving on to photoshop next including the PS Anthology, What I have been doing up until now for practice is typing 'photoshop tutorials' or something like 'mirror image photoshop' into google and doing a walk through of the tutorials.

I would give you some links but honestly there are so many out there that it really depends on how new you are. At first when I purchased PS and installed it I knew almost nothing so I looked for tutorials which were VERY basic and had a lot more 'hand holding' than some of the more advanced ones so if you are already familiar with a lot of the tools in PS any of them should be fine but if you are brand new I would suggest looking for one that you can follow the easiest.

Sitepoint were giving away the photoshop anthology for free a little while ago.

I downloaded a copy even though I actually bought it a little while before.

I learn't the little I know from Lynda.com training videos—samples of which are given away on .net magazines accompanying cd (which also has photoshop tutorials now and then too.)

Looking through the photoshop help documents and experimenting is good too.
