I use Notepad2. It doesn't do debugging and stuff but it has visual brace matching, syntax highlighting and line numbers, long line markers et cetera. I don't know the site but search google for Notepad2 and I'm sure you will find it. It is very lightweight and fast too.

UltraEdit for Windows or TextWrangler for OS/X, or Dreamweaver's built in editor (if you have it).

Yea, I'm planning on installing Zend Studio, but what does it do for HTML? Does it highlight it as well?

Yes, it highlights and auto completes not only HTML but also JavaScript, and naturally PHP. However, Zend is not as good as DreamWeaver when it comes to designing websites because it only has code view and no design view. However, for coding PHP, no one matches its power.

Is there a way to move/copy multiple files in the directory view?

A pretty good resource for PHP editors is php-editors.com. I've found it helpful, anyway.

I also really like WeBuilder 2006, but I don't do hardcore PHP work.

I use Smultron. It's pretty good for what I need. It has syntax highlighting, line numbering, brace identification and is open source (free, yay). It also has a pretty icon.

For Windows, you should consider Notepad++. It's not nearly as cluttered looking as that Crimson Editor and is still completely free. I use that if I ever have to use Windows.
