    Generic copyright statement

    Hi,

Is there such a thing as a generic copyright statement that I could use on my website to express legally my intention to protect everything that I have created ? If so, anyone got a link ?

    Thanks

    HTML Code:
<p>&copy; [your name here]. All rights reserved.</p>
If you want something more "hold up in court"-ish, then I suggest you talk to a lawyer and have him/her draft a statement up.

I usually use a little PHP code to put dates in as well....

    PHP Code:
       <p>&copy; 1999 - <?php echo date('Y'); ?> [Your company name]. All rights reserved</p>
Of course, replace 1999 with whatever date your website started. If this is your first year, I guess you could also write an if, then that only spit out Vinnie's post until the current year was not the same as the year founded.

The reason I go through all this is a) I like the dates on the copyright to help establish when the site was started and that it's still active and b) I forget to update them on my own.

I don't think you need to have the ending copyright date in there though, you own the copyright until X years after your death automatically if you're a person.

I know, I just think having the dates in gives people a warm fuzzy feeling especially after a few years. It sort of lends to your credibility. May not have any legal significance at all, but I like it.
