I'll let people who have signed up for the group I started know. Just an FYI, you mention on your site that the Point charges a 5% fee - true, but Browsercam is willing to take the $50 loss, so everyone only needs to pay $40. Nice not to have to pay until the whole group forms.

Didn't know that. Oh well, it's still only 12¢ more per month, so it's no biggie. Heck of a lot better than that $50 group that appears to have failed. Even charging the little extra bit, I still loose money on the deal because of all the international members, but it's only a few bucks.

In any case, I prefer to ensure that my existing group members always get first chance to renew before I open up the other spots. So I doubt we'll use The Point in the future anyway. Sure, it's nice not to have to pay until everyone is signed up, but my group always get renewed, even if I have to float the cost myself for any empty spots temporarily (which has happened only once in the past four years).

    Thanks for understanding!

The premium plan is $1000 for 12 months, but with 25 users in the account, that’s only $40.00 per person.

There are 7 slots open and available.

I am using The Point to collect the funds.

    How does The Point work?

    1) Start a campaign. In this case -- BrowserCam Group Purchase II: Premium Plan (http://www.thepoint.com/campaigns/campaign-0-1878)

    2) Establish the objective, the terms, and the pitch. Visit my campaign page for the specifics (http://www.thepoint.com/campaigns/campaign-0-1878).

    3) If you decide that you would like to pledge the $40.00 for a BrowserCam user account, you give The Point your credit card number, which is charged ONLY if we reach $1000. Their FAQ (http://www.thepoint.com/doc/faq) will probably address your questions.

    4) If we reach our target by February 18th, The Point cuts a check that is sent to me; I send the funds to BrowserCam; and then create users accounts once I get members' email addresses.

    5) Since The Point is serious about protecting private information, they will only furnish me the names of campaign members if the campaign is successful. I must use their system to contact new group members and have them send their email addresses to me so that I can set-up their BrowserCam accounts.

    6) BrowserCam has agreed to accept the funds less the 5% fee charged by The Point.

Visit http://www.thepoint.com/campaigns/campaign-0-1878 to see the status of my campaign. Feel free to tell anyone who may be interested in a BrowserCam Premium Plan user account about my campaign.

BrowserCam (http://www.browsercam.com/) Premium Plan gives you 12 months of unlimited access to:
    1) Screen Capture Service. Take screen captures of your web page in the different browser/operating system combinations.
    2) Device Capture Service. See how your website will look on mobile devices.
    3) Remote Access Service. Test dynamic functions (javascript, DHTML, forms) on Macintosh, Windows, and Linux machines.
    4) Email Capture. Test your HTML, RTF and TXT emails across multiple desktop & web-based email clients, like Outlook 2007 and Gmail.
    5) Access to any new services developed.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

our group exists for 6 years now (follow this post you see us several times).
We do our money collection through ThePoint (the 2nd time now, as fundable doesn't exist anymore).

VRmartin explained Thepoint pretty good a couple of posts earlier, so I just post the link here:
Browsercam Group purchase Premium Plan 2011 | The Point

One thing to note, Thepoint asks for a country, if your country doesn't exist in the list (like for me, I am from Austria), I just chose UK. We didn't have any troubles last year.

I just started the campaign, existing group members will sign up pretty soon.
But as each year, not everybody is going to renew so just go there grab the slots, we do it on first come first serve.

Questions, just drop me a note.

    Thanks

Are there anymore group purchases or slots open?

Would like an account ASAP so if not I am going to just do a single purchase.

    Welcome to SitePoint Forums, Airdos.

I suggest you start your own group. Though, of course, finding enough people usually takes a few weeks.

Do you really expect a group to still be open 2 months later?

BrowserCam, a Compuware Gomez Service, is no longer available. What they sent me:

    Dear BrowserCam Customer,

This update is to inform you of an important change to BrowserCam. At Compuware we strive to continuously innovate and strengthen our market leading Application Performance Management (APM) platform. To focus our efforts on core APM product line components Compuware has decided to End-Of-Life the BrowserCam service.

This means we will no longer be enhancing BrowserCam with new features. It is important to note that we will continue to support our existing customers until their current subscription period expires:
    1) Compuware will honor all existing customer subscriptions and keep BrowserCam in maintenance mode for this purpose.
    2) Compuware will continue to provide browser updates as new browser versions are introduced into the market. Compuware will evaluate adding browser updates as they become available, based on technical feasibility, scheduling, and customer demand.
    3) Compuware will provide support for defects and maintenance of the virtual test infrastructure.

As you can imagine, a decision like this was not easy to make and was not taken lightly. Thank you for being a BrowserCam subscriber.

    Thank you,
    The BrowserCam Team
