BrowserCam is a "Screen capture and Remote Access service for cross platform compatibility testing and HTML design quality assurance."

I use it to get screenshots and to test in OS versions that I don't have locally via VNC. (VNC is one kind of remote desktop.)

You can read more about those and their other services on their site.

I understand. I'll post a thread about this on DevShed Forums.

Why? The point of having a separate thread was to get people to notice it instead of ignoring it because it's been there for years.

That won't happen. That would add an incredible amount of work for browsers to do -- even more so than if you could select a previous sibling instead of just following sibling(s).

Here's the DevShed thread. (At the time I write this, the only person to post there also posted here.)

I don't care if they tack it on or sticky it new. Thread Death guarantees that if the thread is not preserved in some way, it will be off the main page within a day and then people will ignore it because it's not on the front page of threads.

That won't happen. That would add an incredible amount of work for browsers to do -- even more so than if you could select a previous sibling instead of just following sibling(s).
Uh, the "I want a pony" is a popular method of expressing wishes one does not actually believe will ever come true, in imitation of children often wishing for ponies for [event, usually Christmas] even though it is highly unlikely that said child will ever receive wished-for pony, due to the incredible amount of work for [parents] to do -- even more so than if you could just give them a ((pupp(y|ies))|(kittens?)|(goldfish) instead.

I guess I could say I want a mod_pony for Christmas, but that spoils the joke.

Hmm... good point. This forum is active enough that that's an issue.

    Just a bit.

...unless there was some possibility of my actually getting a pony for Christmas...? 'Cause I do want one. Even though I live in a masionette. Actually I'd like one of those Seeing-Eye Ponies. With the little sneakers.

    Oh and parent selectors.

    Hi Kenn,

I am an organizer of a BrowserCam group purchase. I realized that renewal was coming up soon, started my preparations and found that Fundable was gone. I just sent an email to your sales department to find out if a replacement had been found. I was about to check with my group and see if they want to renew.

    1) Have you found a replacement?
    2) Could you develop a plan that included both screen and device capture for group of 20?

    Thanks.

    Hey guys!
After scouring around the net, we believe we may have found the perfect replacement. Take a look at Kickstarter (Google it up).
Seems fairly decent and uses Amazon Web Payments as the processor. Give this a shot and let us know your experiences on this. Don't worry about the fees taken by Kickstarter. We will accept your payment after they have taken out the fees.
As for your request for a plan with Screen + Device capture for 20 people, our Premium plan should fit your needs.

    Question

    Hi Kenn,

In the beginning, there was the Classic deal in which 20 persons could "share" an account and pay $25.00 each. This option is not available on the BrowserCam website -- only 10 concurrent users for $500.00, which makes it more expensive ($50/person) than the Premium plan ($40.00/person).

Will the special group rate still be available? If yes, how do we take advantage of it?

    Hey there!
Sorry, we're now going to follow the pricing structure officially listed on our website. We're however accepting the amount collected after fees have been deducted by Kickstarter. At $50/person (or $40/person for Premium), for an annual plan, that's still roughly $3 to $4 a month, pretty low already if you ask me

    Hi,
actually I'm interested in a kickstarter-group, but as I'm no US-citizen, I'm not allowed to start any :-(

Would be glad if someone would inform me when a group is started though.

    Thanks in advance,
    Ralf

    Hi there!
Thanks to vrmartin, after talking with their customer service I can confirm now that The Point is a perfect replacement for Fundable. They only take credit cards though, but will support non-US customers. I can't post their URL here since I haven't made 5 posts yet, but you can Google up "The Point" and it's the first result. Their fees is 5%, and we're happy to receive the final payment from you minus their 5% fee.

Looking for Members: BrowserCam Group Purchase via The Point

BrowserCam (http://www.browsercam.com/) allows you to see your web pages in various browsers and operating systems.

The Premium Plan gives you 12 months of unlimited access to:
    1) Screen Capture Service. Take screen captures of your web page in the different browser/operating system combinations.
    2) Device Capture Service. See how your website will look on mobile devices.
    3) Remote Access Service. Test dynamic functions (javascript, DHTML, forms) on Macintosh, Windows, and Linux machines.
    4) Email Capture. Test your HTML, RTF and TXT emails across multiple desktop & web-based email clients, like Outlook 2007 and Gmail.
    5) Access to any new services developed.

The premium plan is $1000 for 12 months, but with 25 users in the account, that’s only $40.00 per person.

I am using The Point to collect the funds. BrowserCam has agreed to accept the funds less the 5% fee charged by The Point.

    How does The Point work?

    1) Start a campaign. In my case -- BrowserCam Group Purchase: Premium Plan (http://www.thepoint.com/campaigns/campaign-0-53)

    2) Establish the objective, the terms, and the pitch. Visit my campaign page for the specifics (http://www.thepoint.com/campaigns/campaign-0-53).

    3) If you decide that you would like to pledge the $40.00 for a user account, you give The Point your credit card number, which is only charged if we reach $1000. Their FAQ (http://www.thepoint.com/doc/faq) will probably address your questions.

    4) If we reach our target by February 19th, The Point cuts a check that is sent to me. I send the funds to BrowserCam, and then create users accounts once I get members' email addresses.

    5) Since The Point is serious about protecting private information, they will only furnish me the names of campaign members if the campaign is successful. I will have their to use their system to contact members and have them send their email addresses to me so that I can set-up their BrowserCam account.

I am looking for members. If you go to http://www.thepoint.com/campaigns/campaign-0-53, you will see the status of the campaign. Feel free to tell anyone who may be interested in a BrowserCam Premium Plan user account about my campaign.

    Thanks.
