Question Are you getting paid what you are worth?

The obvious answer is "Duh, I am way underpaid!", because we all want more money. But take a good, hard look at what you do...

When the project is all said and done, what do you REALLY make per hour? Is it worth it?

    Any thoughts would be awesome.

This is a question of huge relativity and I doubt one can answer it objectively.

Well I'm just starting out really, and I tend to undercharge to get contracts. But as I gain experience I'll get better at estimating value.

Isn't everything? Is Thierry Henri really worth £80million just because he can move an inflated pigskin around with his feet a little better than everyone else? I personally answered in the context of average earnings for positions that require the mix of skills I have and none of the ones I don't have. That's objective in this context, surely?

I guess for starting out in .net development I'm compensated fairly, although I'd expect a healthy increase in the next few years.

When bidding on stuff, I always underpay myself. And when writing books the advances are so low I'm only making about 5-10$/hour by the end of it.

In consulting, I can make between 500-2500$/day, so then I'm "just about right". Some might think it's overpaid, but considering all the stress of travelling onsite, weeks of prepping for it, post-mortems, conference calls, etc, that go into it... I'm probably only making 50$/hour, which isn't crazy money really.

So yeah, I marked just about right, since by and large I do alright.

I feel that I am somewhat underpaid. I can get the same money doing something else, with a lot less pressure and stress, however I really do enjoy my job so I am staying where I am .. maybe a payrise will be on the board someday *Fingers Crossed*

I am way underpaid and hating it! I'm very close to the minimum wager of my country for my age and I'm a webdesigner!
I'm going to re-negociate my next contract when my current one is ending.

$1,000,000,000,000 will get me going for quite a while But realistically atleast $3,000 /month for 20 hours a week would be better.
However though, I'm planning to get more into building profit from sites.

According to one salary survey I took, 60-75% of the people in my area with my job are making more money than me.

According to another salary survey I took, I make more than 70% of the people in the area with my job.

I'd say I'm slightly underpaid considering I don't lead an extravaggant life and still struggle with bills every month. I get them paid, but there's not much left to go around afterwards.

Slightly related: anyone know of a reliable and accurate salary survey?
