SQL 2005 Express and SQL 2000 together?

When I installed .Net Framework 2.0 on our web server, I didn't install SQL 2005 Express Edition because the full version of SQL 2000 was already running on the server.

Now I'm learning about the Personalization and Membership features of ASP.NET 2.0 and I'm getting errors because the framework wants to create a SQL 2005 Express file in the App_Data folder, and SQL 2005 Express is not installed.

Is it safe to install SQL 2005 Express on a Windows 2000 machine running SQL 2000 already? Should I?

    Thanks.

Choose a new instance, during the install. And not an upgrade, It should work. Google a search on dual installations

The personalization/membership stuff works with SQL 2000. See aspnet_regsql.exe (or something like that).

I do have Sql 2000 and 2005 running in paralell. They do not seem to step on each other's toes.
