Exactly. This is just a Beta. Beta = Some stuff is still broken.

    SOME?!!!

I'm rather unimpressed with making people have to upgrade their systems to even run IE7. However, I shouldn't be as unimpressed based on the source. I am biased afterall.

It looks nice enough and so far it hasn't effected my sites much at all (the worst thing seems to be the font effect thats enabled by default) though this is possibly due to them not using too many complex CSS nad general coding features.

Whilst there do seem to be a lot of reports of bugs I'm not sure a typical user would be too bothered by most of them. As such then IE will still retain the market share of browsers so the nicer Microsoft make the new version the better

One other thing I've noticed is that as soon as I installed it, several applications either changed fonts or started displaying fonts differently. It actually looks better. Like Outlook looks much better... Anyone else noticed this?

Yes. But if you want you can allways change fonts on Internet Explorer properties.

I've never had problems playing streaming anything using Firefox.

But why is it affecting fonts in other programs (like my Outlook)?

Because Outlook uses Internet Explorer's rendering engine to display HTML emails.

You guys can turn ClearType off if you don't like it. I don't get all the hate for it though; I have it on as a Windows setting and have for years. I hate jagged text, especially when it comes to serif fonts.

I don't have IE7 but the problem is with the content of the boxes and not the boxes themselves.

I'm kind of thinking the same thing - I set it up yesterday at home and I've had a few small problems (trying to launch yahoo messenger crashed it the first time) and I've found a few things that I wish it could do, but a lot of it is just me being picky. I still like firefox more, but it's good to see MS trying.

Why? IE7 doesn't change any of it.

Probably because the last time IE was the most standards-compliant browser was around 1999/2000.
