Looking to sell my own ads

I was using Engage as my primary ad company with Busrt and Fastclick as backup. I was working with Engage to begin selling some ads myself, and I now have several companies interested. Engage was going to let me use thier service to serve these ads at $2 cpm.

I'm serving about 400,000 adviews per month.

Are there other companies out there with this same type of arrangement?

    Any recommendations?

I've thought about serving them myself, but don't want to risk the server load.

    thanks

I use AdCycle to serve about 1 million ads a month in a shared hosting environment and I have yet to overload the server..

I'd have a go at serving them yourself.

    Hi.

I think the server is a 1700mhz server with about 568 megs of ram, but as I say - it's shared hosting!

I think a RAQ 4i is more than enough to run AdCycle on.

Everything you need to know about AdCycle is on www.adcycle.com where you can download a free version that has to be purchased for $199(?) after a month I think.

    Hope this helps

Yep, it truly is an excellent program.
I think (?) it's created by the guy who owns fastclick.

One of the best things about AC is that it's easy to use, and can be used for some really advanced stuff!

Glad I could be of help

That's very correct, and FastClick's banner network is presently running on an, albeit highly modified, version of the AdCycle system. As a side note, FastClick has been offering third-party licensing of its technology and hardware for several months, and offers this at rates far below competing products from leaders DoubleClick, Engage, L90 and RealMedia.

Also, since you mentioned that you're presently involved with Burst!, it may be of interest to note that Burst recently began to offer publishers the ability to serve direct-sold campaigns through their system for a small fee.

I can't help but laugh when I see the kinds of rates demanded by the likes of Engage, when such a dramatic markup is far from justified (in most cases) by their admittedly superior technology.

Yes, I totally agree Czar.. I really cannot believe some of the rates that the ad-networks are charging.

I have only ever had one advertiser for my site (e.g. non ad-network & are still with us), and they are very happy with the AdCycle program.
Neither of us are going to get huge companies advertising on our sites, so Adcycle should be enough to please the people who do.
