Found one place where Netscape 4.7 is used

there goes the excuse Netscape 4.7 is completely dead.

i was chatting with someone and he said - he had to go help someone with NE 4.7.

    i said What???

    This is the uni:
    http://www.lcc.arts.ac.uk/

And ok IE is probably default there, but many use Netscape Mail and Netscape 4.7 is also available as a browser.

So there .. no more NE 4.7 is completely dead excuse (for me at least).

Yes there are a few people that use it, but is it worth spending the time so <1% of your visitors can use the site?

Its worth supporting them but not going especially out of your way to make the website work for them if it uses standards they can always turn off CSS. I think you meant < 1%.

    Hi,
Work for their technologies, i.e low level. Don't try to make old browsers do crazy things. As they say, 95% of your coding is intended to only 5% of your users.

Does anyone know where to get old browser versions, including old Internet Explorer? Just for S & G, you know, but it would be fun to do some testing with them. I'd appreciate any info. Thanks a lot.

Uh, who says that? I thought those statistics were in reference to the disparity of the distribution of resources as compared to wealth, globaly.

Actually, this is rather a statement used for server-side scripting issues, especially for form validation. In an accessibility/usability context it might lead to some misinterpretations, which I hope won't be the case
