    Question my.cnf/my.ini --log update switch

    Hi,
According to page 169 of the ´building your own database drive website using php and mysql´ you can add a log-update line below [mysqld] to create update logs by default.

I´ve followed the example by first stopping the mysql proces. (with ctrl alte delete -> end proces) Then I edit the my.ini file and place this:
    [mysqld]
    log-update=/backups/mysql/update

Unfortunately, when I reboot the pc, then the mysql server doesn´t start automatically. When I use the ´net start mysql´ command I get a ´system error 1067´ error.

I´ve read http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/binary-log.html but I can´t seem to find the answer there.

Does someone know what I´m doing wrong?

    I´m using Mysql 5.0

the user that your mysql server runs under has to have rights to the /backups/mysql folder. check that first. also check the *.err files in your mysql data directory to see if mysql logged any errors.
