    Resetting auto increment pointer

I was changing the order of some things in my database by changing the value of the id. Which is auto increment, and I started off by changing all the values to like 7,0098 or whatever random numbers, and then I changed them back to 1-15 in the order I wanted them. LOL now though when I add a new item to the database, the id it gets automatically assigned it like 70013 or some outrageously high number, how can I reset the pointer of the auto_increment function so that it will add the next new item with the id of 16 (next integer) instead of some wacky number?

i've done this before. the only thing i know of doing is backing up your data, removing the table, and re-creating.

there's probably something out there that'll reset it, but i don't know of anything.
