I know, I just feel the skin makes me more attracted to the site
You're right, a skin is nice, makes it more attractive, but that's not what keeps me coming back

Yeah, this is a must. Not having to feel like a newbie when joining a forum will keep me around a lot longer. That's why I'm not a fan of rating/reputation systems that various forums use. The last thing you wanna do is scare away newbies by having "Mr. 10 green bars of rep" talk down to him/her.

After being here for so long, I find it hard to go to other forums that have little to no traffic. There is always something going on here and always someone interesting with something to say.
Everybody has their own personal preferences, but you would be surprised at how many prefer smaller forums over larger forums...it's the whole community feel that draws them in

What if you cannot navigate the forums at all
Doesn't matter how attractive forums are, if you cannot figure out how to navigate them or it is really difficult to do so, I dont see you sticking around very long
Mods keeping a tight lid on condescending lovers of flame wars.
I'm one of them... Although sitepoint is nice too.
Most important for me is feeling welcome.
Not just those standard "welcome" post in my introduction thread makes a big difference.
