How to transfer MySQL database to another server?

This is my first attempt at using a database driven website. I am using PHP and MySQL. I have a rather large MySQL database on my development and testing server. I am about ready to go live with the clients website. How can I transfer this database to the cleint's server?

What you need to do is export the database to a sql file (structure and inserts). Do you have shell access or what is your control panel for your host?

Thanks for the reply. phpMyAdmin is the user interface....I am pretty stupid about this, so if you can offer me a few details it would be great.

please use the search feature. there are lots of posts in the mysql forum with details on how to use the export feature in phpmyadmin to backup a database and the import feature to restore.

go download navicat (has a trial period).

Really userfriendly.

Create a connection to ur mysql server,
right click it, hit "DUMP SQL"
And voila, u have a nice SQL file of all ur data.

U can then create a new connection to your NEW mysql server,
and run that sql file as a query.

Voila! You have mirrored your sql server.

It also has a "data transfer" option. But i find that kinda slow.

There are a bunch of database admin tools, but i find navicat really good.

Thanks to all who offered advice. I used this process, as suggested in one of the posts, and it worked:

"If you are used to phpMyADMIN and have permission, simply create a new database on the homepage. Select it from the dropdown on the left and click on the SQL tab. It will allow you to import your locahost.sql file."
