A fee host with PHP & mySQL?

I'm looking for a free host that I can play around on with my PHP and mySQL scripts... I want telnet access etc. is there one?

If not, I think the next best option would be phpwebhosting.com, would you say this is best??

Check out www.coolfreepages.com. They don't allow telnet access (if I remeber correctly) but you are allowed to use FTP.

Why don't you install the on your computer for testing, there are plenty of pre-packaged bundles tha twill install PHP, MySQL and Apache on numerous platforms. See here for more

That looks even better... so I can write mysql and php scripts and test them all from my own computer with no net access?? That sounds too good to be true it would also have to able to support html etc.

I recommend phpdev4. You'll get PHP + MySql + Apache (and I think there's more in this version, I have phpdev3.) I was a complete newbe to PHP when I downloaded it but I didn't have any problems installing it. Just unzip it to c: (and nothing else but c: ) and you're done. Also check out this thread.

One more question. Marina there are two versions:

    PHP4.06 / Apache1.3.20 / MySQL3.23 /MySQL front

    and

    PHP4.06 / Apache1.3.20 / MySQL3.23

What one do I want? Do I need mySQL front as well? What does it do?

MySQL Front is a graphical user interface for accessing the data in your MySQL databases, similar to phpMyAdmin but quite a bit ahead in terms of usability IMHO. The only thing missing is a "query by example" type of interface, which may well be there but I haven't found it yet.

I would go for the version with MySQL Front. You can also download MySQL Front separately...I don't have the URL here but I will try and remember to post it later.
