    How do I use PhpDev4??

I downloaded it, and unzipped it to C drive but now I don't know how to start scripting PHP and looking at it on the server as though it was really online... I make a a php program in winword and put that file in www/ and then when I call it it says 404!!! Also I have no idea how to use mySQl like create a database and start inserting tables etc. I'm used to telnet. Can anyone lead me through on what to do??

First you actually have to have the server running.

Go to the c:\phpdev\apache\ folder and start Apache by running apache.exe (Apache has to be running for the PHP interpreter to execute the PHP code and return it to your browser). Once you have apache running (a little DOS-like window will pop up), type http://localhost/<whateverPHPscriptyoumake.php and it will work.

For the MySQL part, you need to have MySQL running, so just go to c:\phpdev\mysql\ and run mysql.exe. From there you can create databases, tables etc.

To use PHP to run MySQL (on your server through http://localhost/ for example), you'll need to start up the MySQL server on your computer (I think in PHPDev4, it's MySQLFront or something like that).

You should type that in your browser. (Or did I misunderstand something, Aes?)
