Yes you can. The manual would be the best place to start. I have never used the pdf functions myself.

There are even third-party libraries available for flash too. One I have heard of is ming. I was looking to use flash to generate some charts from database data once - but not much has come of that project to date.

If you don't mind spending some money the book PHP and MySQL Web Development has a whole chapter with a working example of using PHP to create and alter PDFs

I've just noticed that in the manual there are pdf functions and cpdf functions - ie, there appear to be two different php libraries supported by php. Does anyone know the difference? Curious
