    Mail() with different mail server

    I am developing on my Windows box but I want to test the mail() function using my mail server on a Linux Shared Server. I thought there would be an area in the php.ini file where I could enter the mail server address, username and password but I don't see it.

    Is there away to do this?

    Not with standard mail() as on *nix it uses the systems own MTA, on windows it delivers directly to an SMTP server. You can do it using raw sockets commands but it can get icky or you can use something like PHPMailer which has all sorts of shiny options to do what you want
