I have just started my first affiliate program, and I'm feeling like such a noob. :P
You people that own reasonably successful affiliate programs, could you please share some of your wisdom?

The key to success in affiliate programs is pretty simple.
Provide payouts that are worth it for affiliates.
Give good cookie lengths.
Push your program where the affiliates are looking. It's a lot easier to sign up 1000 affiliates through CJ then through word of mouth.
I'm not a program owner, but I've talked to a lot of them. Here are some keys:
-The top 5% of affiliates send 90% of the revenue -- treat them very well
-Not only do you have to have good payouts, but it has to convert well. If you pay $30 and your competitor only pays $20, but you convert 1:1000 and they convert 1:100, affiliates aren't going to use you for very long.
