Does it really work?

I've tried banner exchange program from bcentral.com(microsoft). But I'm not sure if my link was displayed anywhere. On MY site there were displayed everytime only 3 different banner of different companies..... where are banners of other users?!

I don't like banner exchanges from those 'swap sites.' You have two options that I think can benefit you more in the long run than some untargeted banner click from a banner exchange.

1) Find a site similar to yours and ask to swap links and banners. You should get more qualified visitors and you can get a general idea of the type of visitor that goes to that site.

2)Some companies will pay you to run banners for them. I have run some ValueClick (www.valueclick.com) banners and got paid for it.

If you are interesting in branding you site or getting more links to your site, then definitely go with option 1. If you want to make a little money, then go with 2.

THAT'S THE BIG PROBLEM!

ValueClick doesn't accept you, if your traffic is worser than 15k/month. And you must have a domain, not a free site...

So I can't use option2.

I would also consider top100 sites
They seem to bring in more traffic than banner exchanges, providing that you find one that targets the category of your site and operates fairly. This is just my personal experience.

Perhaps one is the cause of the other? Get a domain and then market your site. You won't go anywhere with a free domain. Would you trust a personal homepage on Geocities with your personal information?

A friend of mine just started a site that does this, trademytraffic.com. You might want to really check it out, its a fabulous site/service.
