I just hope the API remains somewhat stable through the 1.x line, since that was a big complaint I heard from people trying to stay up to date with Rails.

What? The API is mostly backwards compatible. there are always new features being added but they don't jkust drop the old api's willy nilly. I have found it to be very consistent myself. And i have been using it since .8.x

I have been using rails since 0.13.x but I have read a lot of the changes throughout the lifetime of the beta periods. It seems like Rails has done its best to stay backwards compatible. I'm not saying the people are wrong since I don't know much on the topic, but could they provide examples?
