Meta tags on all pages?

I just figured out the template I used for all my pages contained the same meta tags as my home page. Will search engines view this as spam, ignore it, or is it a safe technique?

no its not spamming, however the search engine will most probably rank you lower then if you had customised tags for each page.

I would take the time and customize each pages META tags..it will be well worth it.

I agree with everyone... you should DEFINATELY take the time to use different/customized META tages for each page.

Use fewer keywords on the other pages (not index page) but they should be more targetted to the content of that particular page.

I use a PHP template system that inserts the common keywords on all the pages + also adds the special keywords... this gives you a greater chance of coming top of the search engines for atleast some search strings

Ditto. Use custom DESCRIPTION tags for each page. Stuff like copyright and author can be the same.
