    How do you browse forums?

When you visit a forum, how do you browse around the forum?

Do you use the "New Posts" link or posts made in the last day? Do you even use the search function to search out new or recent posts?

Or do you navigate around those catagories that are of most importance to you and stay with in a few catagories and post away and ignore the rest of the board?

Just curious so I can make a few decisions on how to get my board more active

I ignore everything but what I care about.

For instance, one of the gaming forums I hang out in, I only post post in the general chat section, because the rest of the forum doesn't appeal to me. I have never used the search function, and I never use "New Posts".

On sitepoint I click on “today’s posts” then just post in any thread that interests me.

It's hard to keep track of all interesting discussions on such big forums like Sitepoint so i think a great feature are the links in Highlighted Forum Discussions. I always start browsing the forum with them. After reading the threads from Highlighted Forum Discussions i'm moving to the rest of the forum and browsing the categories that have interest to me. That's all

    New Posts/View New Posts, mainly.

On SP, I check a couple of forums and click New Posts.

On the sites I own, I always open any staff forums that have new posts first and handle any business/read through what has happened since I last visited.

I just bounce on each forum to see if there's any thread that interests me and then I post.
Love pets? Why not discuss virtual pets?

New Posts if the forums are not huge with hundreds of posts per day...otherwise I bookmark each section I am interested in for busy forums and check each of those individually
